Common Practices and Areas of Weakness

The goal of this report is to summarize the main sources of information and documentation in FLOSS projects. The results of this report will be used as the state of the art analysis in order to design the next generation tools for supporting information and documentantion management in FLOSS projects that will be created in QualiPSo. This document is structured in a first chapter describing the concepts and general ideas about Documentation and Information Management. The next chapter covers the different roles that participate in a FLOSS project and their activities, detecting the different information sources needed. The next step is creating a taxonomy for information sources. Finally, some specific FLOSS projects and communities will be studied with the created taxonomy. To finish the report, the weakness in the current management of information sources in FLOSS will be described.
